ABOUT OUR B&B

The history of B&B Cosy Woods

For some time, we had been looking for a place where we could combine living and working, and where there was space for a (pre)care home for Marie José's parents. In 2022, we found a beautiful, largely renovated tobacco barn and swapped Amsterdam for the beautiful Rhenen.

1876 - 1968: The building was constructed in 1876 and remained in its original state until around 1968.It was surrounded by tobacco fields and most part of the building was used to dry these leaves in order to use them for the tobacco industry. In Veenendaal there were several cigar factories.

1968 - 2000: In the late 60s, the tobacco barn was renovated under architecture into a residential house with a large adjacent barn and indoor swimming pool. A fun detail: the tiles from this former indoor pool are still visible under the Garden suite.

2000 - present: From office furniture to floors and a B&B.

In the early 2000s, the barn was converted into a showroom for luxury office furniture with an adjoining office, resulting in the removal of the indoor pool. When we bought the property, there was once again a showroom, this time for resin floors. We kept the showroom intact, and that's where our flooring company Parketloods is located. The spaces previously used as offices for the employees by the previous owners were ideal for a B&B due to their location!

2022 - 2024: Making the property sustainable

Since the entire property was still heated with gas, we first made the property sustainable by installing heat pumps and solar panels. Where possible and necessary, single glazing was replaced with HR++ glass, and rainwater is collected or directly discharged on the premises. Afterward, we created the Garden suite and Forest suite. Here, we have done everything possible to create a comfortable, stylish, and relaxing place while preserving the character of this unique location as much as possible.

We certainly enjoy living here, and we hope our guests will enjoy staying with us just as much.

We look forward to welcoming you to B&B Cosy Woods!

Warm regards,

John & Marie José
